Also known as Udagamandalam is a town in Tamilnadu 80 km away from Coimbatore and capital of Nilgiri district. It is a popular destination for the couples and group trips and monsoon adds the plus point its fascinating beauty.

People indulge in tourism and agriculture with the manufacturing of medicines. It is well connected by Nilgiri Ghat Roads and Nilgiri Mountain Railways.

The climate of remains mild throughout the year, it generally ranges from 15 degree Celsius to 25 degree Celsius while winds are high throughout the year. While winds are high during the whole year and January and February are cool.

  1. Ooty Lake:  Major tourist attraction of OOTY which fascinates everyone by its calmness. There is boat house near it and facilitates boating to the tourists.
  2. Doddabetta:  Highest peak in the Nilgiri range, 9 km from Ooty from here you can view the entire OOTY through Telescope.
  3. Government Rose Garden:  It is pointed in the slopes of the Elk Hill in Vijayanagaramtown of OOTY. It is the place famed for the largest collection of roses in India which have more than 20,000 varieties of roses.
  4. Nilgiri Mountain Railways:  Built in the British Raj and maintained by Madras Railway and it is added by UNESCO to the list of World’s Heritage Sites. It attracts tourists as it is the best way through which one can explore the scenic beauty of OOTY as it covers the scenes of forest, waterfalls, tea gardens and hills.
  5. Thunder World:  It is listed in one of the best Theme Parks in the world which amusement park, snow room, food court and lots of water sports activities.
  6. Others comprise of Avalanche Lake, Stone House, Kamaraj Sagar Dam, Pykara, Krishna’s Butterball, Thread Garden and much more….

 

How To Reach:

By Air: Coimbatore is the nearest domestic airport which is 88 km away from OOTY then one can book taxi or cab or go by bus. Airport connectivity is well connected by the cities like Bangalore, Chennai, and Delhi which are connected to most parts of the globe.

By Road: By road, OOTY is well connected by the cities like Mysore, Chennai, and Bangalore. Buses of both types  i.e.  Government buses and luxurious overnight buses are there so that it makes your trip comfortable. A daily bus from Calicut leaves at 5 pm and 7 pm in the direction of OOTY and takes 6 hours to reach. If you want to do fun and enjoy the scenic beauty you can hire a cab or self-drive to OOTY.

By Rail: Nearest railway station which is just 40km from OOTY is Mettupalayam which is connected by the trains of city Bangalore, Mysore, Coimbatore, and Chennai. After reaching their one can take Heritage also to go on several stations of OOTY.
