Ajmer: The city of Ajmer realized its label from ‘Ajay Meru’. Nestled in the Aravallis south west of Jaipur, Ajmer was established by Raja Ajaypal Chauhan in the 7th century AD. The Mughals in peculiar, envisaged it as their cherished destination due to the existence of the divine Ajmer Sharif Dargah. Ajmer is now regarded as an educational and cultural centre.

Ajmer sharif dargah: This is a Sufi shrine which encases the ‘maqbara’ (grave) of Garib Nawaz, the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Built in the 13th century, the shrine is popular amid people of all faiths who flock here to have their plea answered. The shrine has three gates – the main doorways or the Nizam gate, the Shah Jahan gate erected by the Mughal Emperor and the Buland Darwaza.

ANASAGAR LAKE: Anasagar Lake is a panoramic artificial lake, commissioned and fabricated by Arnoraj Chauhan, son of Ajaypal Chauhan, between 1135 and 1150 AD. Arnoraj was also recognized as Anaji, which deliver the lake its name. Many generations later, Mughal Emperor Jahangir added his embrace to the lake by laying out the Daulat Bagh Gardens bordering the lake. Emperor Shah Jahan too, devoted to the extension by building five pavilions, known as the Baradari, between the garden and the lake.

BRAHMA TEMPLE: Beyond the Nangaparvat and Anasagar Lake, the Brahma temple clutches a exclusive place in the hearts of Indians. It is the single temple in the world devoted to Lord Brahma. Manufactured by marble and festooned with silver coins, this temple can be classified by its red spire and the image of a swan (considered sacred to Lord Brahma). The chaturmukhi (four faced) idol of Lord Brahma is harbored in the inner altar. A marble statue of the sun god stands picket at the temple. Interestingly, while all the gods are delineated bare footed, Surya is presented wearing archaic warrior’s boots.
